Around this time last year we noticed something strange happening in our goats. About ten of our goats were intensely itchy and it was always the same spot that they were scratching. We looked for lice (a common parasite in sheep and goats) but didn't find any. We researched on our own and talked with our vet, but couldn't find any answers. Meet Finley, our sweet, stinky, skunky dog. I had always heard of people's dogs being sprayed by a skunk, but somehow I thought I would never have to face it. I was wrong. The situation: Yogi is our sweet highland calf that we brought home last December. She is very sweet and also timid. We noticed this February that her breathing was very raspy, but it was right after that arctic blast we had so we thought she probably had pneumonia. We listened to her lungs with our stethoscope and she definitely sounded coarse, so we treated her with Nuflor on the farm.
